Master Maths, one of the founding members of ADESSA, has been providing professional maths tuition since 1976. Its unique method of integrating personal contact from tutors with interactive computer lessons sets them apart from other maths tuition services. Lessons are authored by highly competent mathematics teachers who interpret the South African curriculum and convert it into a user friendly and easy to understand format. Lesson content is regularly updated according to changes in the curriculum and CAPS document.
Master Maths provides learners with the opportunity to work through the curriculum at their own pace, and at their own level of ability. Learning is reinforced and evaluated both on the computer and through worksheets, which are done in writing and assessed by the tutors. With better understanding comes improved marks and improved confidence. The end result is a positive, motivated, independent learner who has the opportunity to choose the future he or she wants.
Master Maths covers the entire South African mathematics curriculum for Grades 4 to 12 with more than 154 centres across Southern Africa. They also offer Master Science for Grades 10 to 12.
The Blended Learning concept is new to many teachers in South Africa!
One of ADESSA’s members, Maths & Science Marketing, has taken blended learning to the next level, making full use of ICT to enhance the teaching and learning of these critical subjects in South Africa. The subjects being catered for are: Grades 1 – 12 Maths, Grades 10 – 12 Science and Grades 10 – 12 Maths Literacy
With Blended Learning, teachers and learners can make full use of the various forms of hardware equipment – computers, tablets, smart phones, data projector, TVs and the internet. These pieces of equipment may then be used by teachers and learners to access any materials and methodology that is available from the Maths & Science Marketing website – all for FREE!
A single page in the Blended Learning programme (and there are at least 300 pages) identifies and isolates a particular topic/chapter and all relevant CAPS aligned material published by MSM on the website, together with what is also available on the same topic from other top-class websites, is all avaiable from one page on the site by means of links to the respective topic on each of at least 6 – 8 other websites!
Edit Microsystems, one of the founding members of ADESSA, was recently recognised for their work in providing life changing assistive technology to persons with disabilities at the 2016 EduWeek Awards held in Johannesburg.
Edit Microsystems received two awards; the Community Award and Supplier of the Year for Special Needs Award. Pieter Labuschagne, Managing Director of Edit Microsystems said: “We are honoured to receive these prestigious awards particularly as 2016 is our company’s 25 year anniversary.”
The Community Award is awarded to an educational establishment or individual who can demonstrate real value to the community it serves through the most imaginative attempt to aid the wider community socially, culturally or economically. The Supplier of the Year is a company that supplies educational institutions with high quality, safe products that meet the needs of teachers and learners in the classroom.
Both of the awards were motivated by the life altering work that the company does in promoting inclusion in education. “Every person, regardless of ability, should be given the opportunity to reach their maximum potential and be able to live a life of dignity and self-worth,” said Pieter Labuschagne. One of the projects recognised at the event was the eBraille project, implemented by Edit Microsystems in partnership with the Department of Education, which is revolutionising teaching and learning for visually impaired learners across South Africa.
ADESSA congratulates Computers 4 Kids, one of its members, on being awarded a 3 year tender to train 500 000 Western Cape citizens on how to connect to and use the limited free wi-fi access at the 384 Neotel / WCG hotspots across the Province.
The impact that Phase 1 has made in the Cape Town Metro has been phenomenal and we are looking forward to the next two Phases where the impact will be even bigger. Citizens have the option to complete a quiz and receive an electronic certificate signed by Minister Winde.
The ADESSA voice is becoming stronger by the day, with more companies signing up as members. One of the steps of re-imagining the organization was a review of this website, as well as the creation of a new logo.
One of our members, Fuel Online, kindly did the redesign of the website layout and logo for us.
