The Centre for Renewable and Sustainable Energy Studies at Stellenbosch University created an off-grid media lab for Mugoidwa Secondary School, in Vhembe district, Limpopo Province, South Africa.

The solution consists of 2 x 12m upcycled containers joined seamlessly to create a unified learning environment. The aim of this off-grid media lab is to help bridge the gap between those who have access to knowledge and those that don’t, in a sustainable manner. The idea is to not be a financial or security burden on the school, but rather help save money through renewable energy and giving access to the realm of knowledge that they wouldn’t have otherwise not received. This will enable learners to make informed decisions about their future – knowledge is power.

The renewable and sustainable energy team at the Stellenbosch University explored many brands and they found that Clevertouch had the best cross-platform integration, ease of use, and well-thought-out UX (user experience) that they come across. As well as seamless integration with Chromebooks.
